Match the roof to the house

Which System Fits Your Situation?

There's no single 'best' shingle — there's the best shingle for your roof's exposure, your plans, and your budget.

Hail-prone areas

Look for UL 2218 Class 3 or Class 4 impact-rated options — in this group that's GAF Timberline HDZ and TAMKO Titan XT. Some Texas insurers offer discounts for impact-rated roofs; ask your agent.

High-wind exposure

Open lots, hilltops, and coastal-adjacent areas punish shingles. TAMKO Titan XT's 160-mph wind warranty and GAF's WindProven (no maximum wind speed with a full GAF system) are the strongest wind stories here.

Shaded or humid lots

North-facing slopes under oaks streak fast in Texas humidity. Atlas's lifetime Scotchgard algae warranty and GAF's 25-year StainGuard Plus are built for exactly this.

Planning to sell in a few years

Ask about warranty transferability before you buy — terms differ by manufacturer and transfer windows can be short. A transferable warranty is a genuine selling point.

Warranties Have Fine Print. We Read It.

Every figure on this page comes from the manufacturers' own published warranty documents — and even those change. "Lifetime" has a specific legal meaning that differs by manufacturer. Wind warranties require specific installation methods. Algae warranties cover discoloration, not leaks. The non-prorated period is what actually protects your wallet in the early years.

When we quote your roof, we put the real warranty document for your chosen system in your hands — not a brochure summary. And our own 10-year workmanship warranty covers the installation itself, which is the part manufacturer warranties don't cover.

Common questions

Materials FAQ

It doesn't mean the roof lasts forever. 'Lifetime' is a defined warranty term — typically for as long as the original owner owns the home, covering manufacturing defects, prorated after an initial non-prorated period. Always read the manufacturer's actual warranty document, not the brochure headline.
